old school.

cropped cashmere sweater: ralph lauren (similar here), plaid skirt: Forever21 (similar here), boots: seychelles (similar style), bag: urban outfitters (similar here)

been dressing a bit retro lately or i guess i always have.. i noticed my skirt collection length are all about this lenth or so.. minus the period of issarocks skirts in which case consists of half of my skirts.  when my mom saw me in this, she said she probably had this same outfit years ago.  i don't doubt it.

stay tuned kiddos... there's a shopbop giveaway coming soon!

repetition

skirt: diy from an old skirt, tank: f21, robo-bear necklace: shop in Seoul, pumps: jessica simpson

tired of the long-ish skirts? i can't stop. and renji is all sreepy on the bed... per usual.

o ya i'm glad everyone liked that sequin dress :) it still smells. i need to stop being lazy and dry clean it.

this week has been crazy.. can't wait to relax.. it's almost the weekend again...

in a blur

button back sweater: target, skirt: vintage, heels: bcbg

raising my arm cause i'm sure... sure that i'm doing some terrible posing.

so the blur photo was captured in an attempt to self portrait outside.. as the camera started to fall off the chair i had propped it on. SO SCARY. camera is ok.. as evidence from the indoor shots. i'll be much more careful now.

i heart pockets.

skirt: handmade, tee: kohls, booties: seychelles

these photos are like a month old...

girly + nerdy. remember these glasses? i figured why not use them.. more than once.

i totally 'made' the bed on top of renji... and he was all WUT.. then he posed... per usual.

-issa

so girly.

skirt/belt: vintage, tee: jimmyZ, pumps: nine west

.. and squinty.

nothing beats a girly flowy skirt. i feel like this is such a classic girly look.. and i loves it.

so much so that i could almost bust out with west side story... "i feel pretty.. oh so pretty.." ok.. maybe not.

hope everyone is doing fabulous!

church girl

top: wet seal, belt: shop in shibuya, shoes: girly shop at greenspoint, skirt: thrift store in harajuku, tights: h & m
I wore this outfit to church on Sunday. Just wanted to make the tiny bit of red that is on my skirt stand out so I wore red flats & a thin red belt. I scored this skirt at a thrift store (yes! a thrift store!) in Harajuku. Spread out - it looks like a painting! I love digging for bargains, especially when I have "I love me" days. Lately I've been trying to stay away from shopping, though... because I decided to treat myself on a trip to BALI for Spring Break! I'll wait to see what kind of bargains I can find there and of course I'll be sure to let you all know. =)

slightly school girl.

sweater: adrienne vittadini, skirt: handmade, shoes: seychelles, bag: LV, scarf: dollartree

i've noticed i tend to lean towards school girl/preppy styles when the weather gets cooler.. with layering and scarves i just can't help it. this outfit is from work last week.. and i have a few more.. i'm just a bit slow at posting! hope everyone is having a great weekend! i still need to prepare for thanksgiving (i'm hosting) oh and me, roz and dru got together for a project... to be revealed later. :)

-issa

catching up.

tee/leggings: f21, sweater vest: target, boots: kenneth cole

i actually wore this last friday to work... and then out to happy hour with coworkers.. and then out to a lounge with friends at night.. (though i switched the leggings out with over the knee socks and heels)

anyways.. if you have tagged me, you may have noticed that i am absolutely terrible at actually doing them and i apologize profusely. so i'd like to thank theseeker, MODAna, maketheworldacatwalk, and j'adore fashion who have recently tagged us!! thanks so much!

so here's 6 random facts (though i think i'm quite boring):

1. i'm quite shy if i don't know you.. but once i do get to know you.. you can't get me to shut up. (i'm also way more talkative in chat than IRL)
2. i work in IT.. and with all guys.. i totally get nerdcore humor.. but when someone gets too nerdy1337 for me i tell them i think their glasses just got thicker and they stop.. and ya they probably think i dress weird.
3. me, roz, and tokyostargirl were college roomates at UT. dru was practically a roomie as well.
4. i was in a pageant when i was 18. ya rly. swimsuit and heels even.
5. i like to eat at pretentious places.
6. O HAI DERE, I TEND 2 BREAK OUT N LOLCAT CHAT.

oh and it seems that the black skirts are quite a hot commodity (1 left).. don't worry more of that fantastic stripy material in other colors coming soon! in the meantime a few skirts that are in the store.

bangs or no more.

skirt: express, cashmere sweater: ralph lauren, boots: mia, socks: target

i'm sorry for being kinda slow with commenting back! we have some out of town guests so i've been kept quite busy with that.. but now that i'm at work.. i'm *cough* playing catch up. :)

you've probably noticed my incessant need to push my bangs to the side. i rarely if ever have them straight forward... of course that could be because they are a tad too long for that and hair in eyes is not as comfortable as you would think. so i keep holding off on trimming them being stuck between whether or not to grow them back out or to trim again. i always somehow trim just a bit off. i guess we'll just see how long they really last.

thanks for the lovely tiffany from iamstyle-ish for posting about my skirts :) i'm nearly sold out of that last batch.. and already in the works for a new set. (black ones that are like the purple skirt)

anyways i hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend.. and week ahead!

*edit* would ppl be interested in corduroy puff skirts?

red puff skirt.

purple puff skirt.

houndstooth plaid puff skirt.

issarocks.etsy.com
so after several inquiries about the skirts, i've finally opened a store!! all skirts are customizable in waist size.. as in i haven't sewn in the elastic yet, i've also made some of the skirts longer.. for non-vertically challenged gals, but i can always shorten them on request. btw there is more than one of the purple and the houndstooth skirts available but i've only listed one each for now. and huge thanks to my buddy dru for doing the product shoot!

black and blue

leggings: f21, skirt: handmade, tee: kohls, shoes: rampage, scarf: parisian street vendor

i had to do it. my first time to try out leggings... now i've done tights but leggings.. not yet and i think i could get used to it. this look is very similar to roz's birthday post, but with the 'i'm sure will be brief' cool down i decided to throw on a scarf. now if only the weather would stay below 80 Farenheit..

and yeah i'm totally gonna move those orange posts away from now on.

grey and brown

cardigan & tank, AA. skirt, F21. boots, dolce vita.

i wore this to a little get-together at my parents' house last saturday to celebrate my dad's birthday. as the weather is finally beginning to cool down here in houston, i'm trying to get some last use out of my summer items, like this forever 21 skirt, before they get packed away for the winter. i love transitional dressing because anything goes, fashion-wise, during that period of time between seasons (like tights w/ sandals! -- yes, expect to see a post on that later). and as i've mentioned before, i'm a big fan of the pairing of grey with brown, so this outfit is very much a "roz" look.

also, i got a lot of comments on these dolce vita boots in this post. i bought the boots from shopbop during their end-of-season sale at the beginning of this year. although i saved about a hundred bucks off the full retail price, for me $144 is still a pretty hefty price to pay for a pair of boots (personally, i would much rather splurge on a
one-of-a-kind jacket or a fabulous dress)...but i am quick to justify this purchase by arguing that a brown riding boot is classic and will never go out of style. more importantly, i LOVE them and really there's no better argument than that, right?

jury duty

skirt and top: h&m; shoes: ninewest

so today i had jury duty... luckily they ended up not needing us for any cases.. but we did sit through a few justice of the peace weddings while waiting.. so that was kind of interesting.
this skirt was one of my very few purchases while in ny.. and my first time to wear it.. i figured it was appropriate for court. anyways i hope everyone had a good weekend! seriously.. skirt making will commence soon! :)

also the gorgeous tiffany from i am stylish tagged us awhile back..

here are the rules:

4_ Austin... me, roz and jeannie all went to the University of Texas.. so we know Austin... from 6th street.. to ACL fest..to SXSW.. it's just perfect.
5_ no state income tax... haha ok that's kinda a weird one. how bout this. Southern Hospitality.

birthday suit

top, club monaco. skirt, handmade by issa. booties, jeffrey campbell. clutch, bloomingdales.

once you pass a certain age, birthdays become more and more difficult to take. this year, i wanted to do something low-key, so saturday night i celebrated over dinner with a small group of friends at a casual, b.y.o.b. italian restaurant. after we had our fill of food and emptied out three bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne, we decided to continue the festivities where else but ...the 62-hour sale at our local ikea!
i'm sure it says something about your age when, instead of at the standard bar or club, you opt to spend your birthday at a home furnishings store. but there we were, at 11 p.m. on a saturday night, working off our wine buzz while posing on furniture in our dressy garb, making toasts with swedish meatballs, and ending the night with $1 hot dogs and 50 cent frozen yogurt cones. it was completely random, absolutely ridiculous, and certainly memorable. to sum it up in a word, it was...awesome. further proving the point that having a good time isn't about where you go or what you do, it's all about the people you're with.

this is what i wore on sunday, my actual birthday, to have indian food with the fiance. the skirt is actually one that issa custom made for me! its hard to see in the picture, but the fabric is a lovely brocade-type material, and i was ever-so-careful to cover my lap with my napkin during dinner so as not to spill any of my chicken masala on issa's beautiful piece of work.

all in all, my birthday weekend couldn't have been better. i am a lucky girl to be able to celebrate another year closer to thirty with such an awesome group of people. and thanks to all the readers for the birthday wishes!

sorry i've been a bit lazy lately... but i managed to get the husband to take some pictures of me after work today... i've worn this outfit a few times.. sometimes opting for a dark brown belt.. i consider it one of my more 'age appropriate' outifts.. it's not too exciting.. but it's an update! hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and great week so far!
