waiting for fall...

i know, these photos leave much to be desired in terms of quality and composition... but issa has been bugging me to post. rightfully so, as it's quite apparent that she and jeannie have really been carrying this blog with little help from its elusive editor #2. truth is, i've kind of checked out for the rest of the summer. any inspiration for dressing has been stifled by houston's weather and its oppressive heat. although i've lived in texas for the last 13 years, i spent my childhood and much of my teenage years up north (ohio and alberta, canada to be exact) and have never fully acclimated to summers in the south. it's fun for a while to sport the flirty little summer dresses and sandals, but by august i'm already looking back wistfully at my collection of scarves, jackets and boots, waiting in anticipation for the arrival of fall so i can begin piling on the layers.

a few thunderstorms passed through over the weekend, providing some very modest relief from the heat. i took the rain and slight drop in temperature as an excuse to play with some outerwear, as here in houston, it'll be a couple of months still until the sweaters and jackets go into full wardrobe rotation.
